On the morning of 6th April 2024, I awoke to a river of coal flowing through my backyard. The cause and effect of climate change was literally at my doorstep. I loaded my camera with Kodak black and white cinema film and went to inspect the damage from the third “hundred year storm” in as many years.
This candid photograph depicts Reef Winner playing in the aftermath of the devastation. I was drawn to the urgency of the scene. The obvious juxtaposition of despair and hope playing out right in front of me. An image with a message as clear as the one delivered by mother nature that day.
